Charge Me Uo: Light Up Card Making Kit - Lawn Fawn and Chibitronics

Hello crafty friends,

I´m so really happy to be part of this amazing collaboration between Chibitronics and Lawn Fawn! They teamed to create a kit that includes everything for two interactive cards. Templates, stamp set, coordinating dies, LEDs, coppertape, batteries, as well as patterned paper to create kind of card you want.

Charge Me Up: Light Up Card Making Kit with Lawn Fawn

The idea for my card came definitely from the stamp set. The circuit is pretty simple to create, especially when you have the great templates that my friend Eiko from the Chibitronics design team created for you. I wanted the background to match with the set, so I had the idea to use the copper tape to create the fancy background.

In case you are interested in how I created my card, there is a full video tutorial over on my YouTube channel.

This was it for today. Please don't forget to watch all the creations from the Chibitronics and Lawn Fawn design team. There are some great samples!

Lawn Fawn is also giving away one Kit each day of the hop. Head over there to read more about the conditions!

I hope you enjoyed the charge me up kit with Lawn Fawn and until the next time I hope you have a wonderful day.

Home is where the heart is

Hello crafty friends and happy Sunday!

Today I'm here to share with you another pull tab slider switch card. For long time I wanted to use the happy village stamp set. And now I had a good reason. Near to our house we occasionally saw a house that was left. We are searching for two years already to find a house that we a) can pay and b) is more or less what we want. I decided to create a card and ask the owner if he/she would sell. Until now, I didn't send the card :D

As always I created a video tutorialfor you guys.
But here I will do a little instruction:

  • Stamp all images on Neenah solar white paper using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and color with Copic Markers.
  • Die cut images using coordinating dies and cut out the little heart in the house using a craft knife.
  • Die cut all pieces needed. Card panel and  hill borders.
  • I placed all pieces like I wanted them so I knew where to put my light.
  • I created my simple circuit first. REMINDER: + side from the battery connects with the plus side from the LED. And so does the minus side ;)
  • Then I cut out a stripe into the Circuit. I created a "X" shaped paper piece folding the paper forward and backwards. The piece was covered with copper tape.
  • The X has to be put in the cut out stripe. Two arms from the "X" under the panel and two on top. When the X is, where the copper tape is, then the circuit is connected again.
  • Glue a pull tab on top of the X.
  • Circuit panel can now be taped to the card base and the card can be assembled.
  • As I always like to hide the thickness of the card, my sky layer has one layer of foam tape, the first hill layer has two layers of foam tape and the third hill layer has three layers of foam tape.
  • Add all the houses, clouds and fences and trees.
  • On my pull tab I added a green piece of paper, so the recipient would know easier where to pull. I wrote in german "pull here", as the recipient may just know german.
  • Stamp the sentiment. Please stamp the sentiment before assembling the card. I changed my mind and did it last. But I wouldn't recommend this ;)
  • Card is all done.

This was my card for today. I hope I manage to send the card to the house owner. We are just waiting to talk to the neighbors, so we know better about the situation. We don't want to annoy anyone.
I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and I hope to see you back soon! Happy Sunday

Vanessa

Interactive Switch LED Card

Hello friends,
today I have this interactive switch system to share with you. For long time I wanted to create a card in which you can open the oven and then the light would shine. It took me a bit, but finally I can share with you how I did it.

Basicly the circuit is a simple circuit. The circuit is all time closed. The little acetate piece which is glued behind the ovens door is there to interrupt the circuit. This is all you have to know. So the light is only shining while the ovens door is open.

As always I created a >>video<<tutorial for you, so you can easily recreate the card.

I hope you enjoyed my card for today. Soon this month I will be back with another tutorial for you. I wish you a great Sunday.

Chibitronics & Winnie and Walter collaboration

Hello friends,

today we are back with a little collaboration blog hop. Chibitronics is teaming with Winnie and Walter. We also have great prices to win, so please stay until the end.

For my project for today I wanted to create a diamonds shining scene. Here for I colored my images and then heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. I also created some from vellum. Behind the diamonds I wanted to have the lights shining indirectly. A better Tutorial I have for you in my video. I  am always better in explaining while you can see it.

As promised there is also a chance to win. All you need to do is to hop along the list and leave on each blog a comment. You have time until Tuesday, may 29th 11.59 pm to leave comments and have a chance to win. Chibitronics is giving away a Starter Kit valued with 30$ and Winnie and Walter is giving away a 30$ gift card.

Magical Day

Hello Chibitronic-fans :)

today I want to share with you this magical pullman slider switch card. First, I wanted to mentioned that at the beginning the card was planned as a regular LED card, with a push switch. But as I was creating my circuit I liked the idea of having a pullman slider switch and a hidden sentiment.

As always I created a tutorial for you. You can see HEREhow I created this card. I like doing the videos for you, as you always understand better how to create the card.
  • Stamp all the images on Neenah Solar White paper using Memento Tuxedo Black ink
  • Color all the images using Copic Markers (but for sure you could use what ever you want
  • Die cut the panel out of watercolor paper and ink blend the panel using Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet and Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink. Splatter some waterdogs over the panel
  • Diecut another panel to create the circuit and create the regular circuit. Then you cut a strip of paper off, which goes trough one string (see picture below)
  • Take one piece of paper and cover it with copper tape. Then you fold it until it gets a star shape. The will work as a connector trough the missing part in the string.
  • Place the star shape in the cut out strip and tape it on a piece of paper. Mine was about 1" wide. This works as out pull tab. Other then I did in the video I would suggest to stamp the sentiment before glueing on the star shape.
  • Cover the circuit with a double layer of foam tape and tape it on the ink blended background we created.
  • The finished panel can now be taped on the cardbase.
  • Add all the critters, which were fuzzy cut and covered with clear Sparkle pen before.
  • I used some sequins from Lucys Little Things for finishing touches and then the card is all finished.

So, this was my card for today. I hope you enjoyed watching and reading how I created this card. I hope you've got inspired and I would like to see your project.

Chibitronics & My Favorite Things Collaboration

Hey there,

today I'm part of the My Favorite Things and Chibitronics collaboration blog hop.
Over the course of today and yesterday (15th & 16th Feb), please head over to the chibitronics and MFT stamps blogs to start the hop and see all the inspiration.
If you hop along, please remember to leave a like and a comment – and then you can be in with a chance to win a Chibitronics starter kit or a $50 voucher to the MFT stamps store! What are you waiting for!?

Now, let's talk about my project. I saw this idea over at Tiffanys blog and the first time I saw the Somebunny I Love set, it was perfect for my idea.
I started with stamping and coloring all my images. After coloring I fuzzy cut the images. I started then with stamping my bigger stars and the moon with Versamark ink pad, sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set it. I stamped all these stars also with white pigment ink on black card stock. Then I stamped the remaining stars on the background and cut out the inner part of the bigger stars. Behind the stars I taped Vellum, so the lights would shine through.

On the black cardstock I stamped the thinking bubble with white pigment ink and cut it out. Now I can start creating my circuit. It is a parallel circuit with six LEDs. The switch is behind the bunny.

As Always, the trickiest part is putting the card together. This isn´t really tricky, but I always like to hide the thickness. So I cut out the place where the battery is on my clouds.

I hope you enjoyed my collaboration project for My Favorite Things and Chibitronics. Please, don't forget to hop and to comment for a chance to win 50$ from MFT and a starter kit from Chibitronics.

I hope you have a great day!

Lava Land

Hello crafty friends,
today I want to show you this sweet dinosaur and lava land light up card. The images are from Clearly Besotted stamps. From the moment on I saw them, I wanted to create a light up card. Finally, after Christmas and a little stressful time, I managed to do this and it was very enjoying.

As always I've made a video for you. My english isn't the best, so I think it is easier for you to see it.
  • Stempel all images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and color it with Copic Markers. But you can use the coloring medium that you own at home, so there is no need to buy extra. After coloring I fuzzy cut the images and traced it with a black marker to have finished edges.
  • Stamp the volcanos and fuzzy cut the volcanos with the lava part. After ink blending all my panels I stamped the lava part on vellum using Satz On ink, colored the lava part from the back (!!!) using Copic Markers, fuzzy cut it and glued it behind the volcano.
  • I die cut all my layers I need for my card and ink blend them using my Distress inks. For the sandy and beige parts I've used gathered twigs and antique linen, for the grass I´ve used twisted citron and for my background I've used chipped saphire, wilted violet and picked raspberry. I´ev sprayed the background with Shimmer Spritz and over all my pieces I've splattered some water drops using a paint brush and clear water. I wanted to mimic a volcano explosion.
  • Now it is time to create the circuit. It is hard to explain, so here is a picture from the circuit from the card. It is a parallel circuit and a simple switch.
  • To finish my card I need to put the card together. In my volcano panel I die cut a circle for the battery, because I like to hide the thickness of my battery. Volcano panel is taped over one layer of foam tape, the middle panel is taped on two layers of foam tape and the last panel is taped with only glue. Here you have to take care, that you don´t tape the switch permanently on the battery, so I only used glue at the left and at the right side. In the middle were no tape.
  • Add all the critters on the card. I glued the stones over the battery and stamped "press" on one of the stones, so the recipient knows what the card can do.
  • I added the sentiment over one volcano, because I didn´t know where to stamp it before. But I wouldn´t recommend this to leave this as the last stepp.

I hope I could inspire you to create an interactive card. In case you need more informations, please watch my video tutorial, as it might could be helpful for you. Stay tuned, next week will be something special going on here ;)
